The HEC Need Based Scholarship Program is an educative initiative by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Eligibility Criteria for the HEC Need Based Scholarship 2024:

Students who want to apply for this HEC scholarship must be eligible in the following criteria:

• Applicants must be enrolled in any of the participating public sector universities whose names have been mentioned above.
• Family background is the most important element which will be primarily considered before giving this scholarship to any students. Students with weak financial backgrounds will be prioritized because of their needs.
• In case of a 5 year program, HEC will provide complete financial support to students.
• Stipend of Rs.6000/ will be given to the awarded students for the rest of the duration of their program.
• Applicants have to provide the current salary slip of their parents which will be considered as the actual source of income for their family. The parents’ salaries will decide whether students will be rewarded with a scholarship or not.
• Students who get their admission with self-finance are not eligible for this scholarship.
• In case of any Physical or Behavioral issue if an awarded student is dropped out, the seat will instead be forwarded to the student who is next on the list.
• Applicants must provide original details. In case of any misleading agenda, students will be punished and considered disqualified for the scholarship.
• In case of any missing document, the applicant will not be considered as a potential applicant and this will put his/her application acceptance in danger.
• If a student is availing any other governmental scholarship, then he/she is not eligible for this scholarship.
• Application must be submitted within due date otherwise they will not be considered.

Benefits of Need Based Scholarship Program:

Because this scholarship is need based and is funded provided by the government, it has various benefits:

• Students will be provided with Rs.6000 rupees per month.
• Tuition fees of students will be fulfilled by the HEC.

According to my experience as a university student, the biggest problem with attending a university is the tuition fees, and so if they are fulfilled by the government, then the students can carry on their educational career without hesitation, financial strain or excessive worry.

Documents required for HEC Need Based Scholarship:

There are certain documents which are required to be eligible for this scholarship program which are stated as followed:

• Salary slip of parents having governmental jobs.
• Income and bank statements are required if parents have any private jobs.
• Student University card.
• Copy of CNIC.
• Copy of all educational transcripts.
• Authorization letter of grade 17 officer or above.

All applicants are supposed to provide every required document because in case of any missing document, the application will not be considered.

How to apply for Need Based Scholarship:

There are certain steps which must be considered before applying for this need based scholarship:

• First take the scholarship application form from the Financial Aid Office (FOA) of the participating university.
• Fill the application form with required information.
• Attach the required files with your application form
• After reading your application carefully submit it to the FOA office.
• You will be informed from your university office if you will be selected.

Keep in mind that HEC is not playing any direct role for giving you need based scholarships. University will read the application form of students and grant their permissions for scholarships if they find them eligible for this. Grants will be transferred to the students account by their university. For this scholarship students have to maintain contact with the university for this.

The Vice Chancellor is playing a key role for this scholarship. He will read the application form of applicants and if he finds you eligible, he will grant a scholarship. Institutional Scholarship Award Committee (ISAC) will help the Vice Chancellor to select the eligible students.
